The importance of prevention training in fighting human trafficking

United Against Human Trafficking celebrates having reached out to 1,622 Houston youth (an increase of 500 over the previous year) with both preventative education or intervention, and looks forward to increasing that number again in the coming year.

Their goal is to teach local students, and the adults responsible for them, how to recognize and avoid potential trafficking lures. This is very important as the long-term affects of trafficking are heavy emotionally, physically, and financially both for the victim and for those assisting that person to freedom. Another goal is to help minors who are already being trafficked to realize that what is being done to them is a crime, they don't "deserve" it, and also both that there *is* help available and where to get that help.
